PGA Championship: Who Takes Home The Wanamaker?

Find me on:

Ever since Tiger Woods took home another green jacket at The Masters earlier this year, the golf world has been wondering: was it a one-off, or is this the start of another big Tiger run?

Well, if Vegas (the city, not Jhonattan Vegas, the golfer) has anything to say about it, he's the betting favorite this weekend at the PGA Championship.

Tiger has won the PGA Championship 4 times, most recently in 2007. This will be the first time the PGA Championship has been played at the notoriously difficult Bethpage Black Course - it's ranked #6 on America's 50 toughest courses. Tiger is historically great on difficult courses, and won the U.S. Open on Bethpage Black in 2002 by being the only golfer to break par that weekend, so that experience may give him an edge this weekend. However, he hasn't played a PGA Tour event since The Masters.

Were I a betting woman, my money would be on Brooks Koepka. He won the PGA Championship last year, and he's really good at going back-to-back at major championship wins. Brooks is playing some of the best golf of his career lately: coming in heartbreaking 2nd at The Masters and 4th at AT&T Byron Nelson last weekend. I think Brooks makes a strong run for the Wanamaker Trophy again this weekend. And I am totally not biased because he's my favorite player, nope, not at all!

Rory McIlroy is also shooting up the betting odds board. Other good picks are Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, and Justin Rose. A long shot: Bryson DeChambeau

What do you think? Do you agree with Vegas and think Tiger is taking home the Wanamaker Trophy? Or do you think a long shot golfer makes his way through the favorites? Let us know below!
